- selected topics in the history and philosophical approaches in population geography,
- selected topics in the geography of fertility, mortality, migration, population ageing,
- modern demogeographic and geoinformation methods in population geography, population projections;
- examples of applications of population geography,
- the origins of cities and early urban civilisation,
- cities and urbanisation in Europe, North America, Australia and Oceania; common features of cities and urbanisation in the Third World; cities and urbanisation in North Africa and SW Asia, Asia, Sub-Saharan Africa, Latin America,
- analysis and presentation of a scientific article on geography of population and settlements from a scientific journal of student's choice,
- involvement in at least one of the departmental scientific research projects: participation in data collection,
- teamwork on interpretation of selected results from the analysis of the scientific research, infographic presentation of a selected part of the results.
