- Greek enlightenment, the war of independence and the emergence of the Modern Greek state; Greek literature in this period.
- Greece in the period between the emergence of the modern state and the Micro-Asiatic catastrophe; the language question, culture and literature in this period.
- Greek culture and literature in the 19th and 20th century; main currents and authors (N. Kazantzakis, O. Elytis, G. Seferis, C. Cavafy).
