A particular emphasis is given to the Modern Greek phonologycal system, owing to the variety of changes that this system underwent in the process of transition from Ancient to Modern language. In terms of the Modern Greek morpholoy and syntax, a particular emphasis is given to differences between Ancient and Modern Greek.
Students learn basic vocabulary of Modern Greek and develop capabilities of understanding and articulating written and spoken messages, used in most common speech situations. Students read and analyse simpler and mostly non-literary texts, written in Standard Modern Greek.
